Echoes of the Ageless Lyre

A Musical Journey Through Time, Myth, and Civilization

Mia Theodoratus in a gold dress holding an ancient Greek lyre

Echoes of the Ageless Lyre is a transcendent performance that revives the ancient voice of the Greek lyre and Victorian-inspired recreations, guiding audiences through a sonic tapestry woven from the echoes of Ancient Greece, Mesopotamia, and the pre-Christian world.

Feel the soul of civilization stir as melodies rise from the very heart of human history—evoking the sacred spaces of Mesopotamian temples, the sunlit shores of Lesbos, and the candlelit salons of Victorian dreamers.

At the center of this journey stands the voice of Sappho, the great lyric poetess of antiquity. Her fragments—tender, sensual, divine—are reimagined in sound, letting her words once again dance with the lyre as they did beneath the Aegean sky.

The instruments

  • Ancient Greek Lyre: recreating the music of Homer, Sappho, and sacred ritual.
  • Dital harp-lute: 1837, inspired by Regency England’s infatuation with Ancient Greece. More on the Historical Harps page.
